API technology offers a new way of thinking and allows data to be stored in one place, Sage 200, and for two way data queries to happen quickly and efficiently
Integration of disparate pieces of software is often a key requirement for businesses looking for efficiencies and a competitive advantage.
Traditionally, integrations with Sage 200 have involved deploying standard middleware to automate CSV or XML file transfer or specific bespoke development. However, API technology is now becoming an industry standard for software of all sizes.
Utilising our own API, Smith Cooper have integrated Sage 200 with many different platforms and applications already and we create new plug-ins regularly in line with client requests and requirements.

API technology is now becoming an industry standard for software of all sizes as more and more clients replace their legacy file transfer process with a more efficient, secure and future proofed API solution
Many of the Sage 200 sites we currently support have a Sage integration of some sort with a third party system. A frequent example of this is a Sage 200 e-commerce website link (Magento and Woo Commerce are very common) but clients will often also wish to link the, best in class, Sage 200 Accounting Ledgers to an industry specific or bespoke commercial system.
Sage 200 has standard import capability ‘out of the box’ which will allow a CSV file in the required format (which we would provide) to be manually imported to various modules (new and update) by the user.
If your Sage 200 integration requires automating or has multiple, perhaps two way, integration points (which 90% of them do) then we would look to utilise our own Sage 200 API.
Traditionally, integrations with Sage 200 have involved deploying standard middleware such as Eureka Data Exchange to automate CSV or XML file transfer or specific bespoke development. Whilst both these solutions are still valid, are working happily in many sites and remain suitable for some scenarios, API technology is now becoming an industry standard for software of all sizes.
This method of integration is a more modern way of working and is significantly more efficient than file transfers. Particularly when handling large volumes of data or mapping fields from third party bespoke applications.
The API not only offers a new way of thinking, allows data to be stored in one place (i.e. Sage 200), but also means that third parties can query specific data quickly and easily.
Unlike the scheduled mass update approach of the past, the API is event driven. This allows Smith Cooper or third parties to interact with Sage 200 in smaller more manageable chunks of data which, in turn, leads to a more robust, performant solution.
The key premise of the tool is that we have a standard data model of the data to be imported into Sage 200 good to go. In simple terms, this is a list of the Sage 200 fields and the rules of the data with which to populate them with. The data model has been designed by us to include the required field for each operation in Sage 200, but crucially it is also capable of also updating any analysis code or custom fields too, as required by your project.
Smith Cooper has integrated Sage 200 with many different platforms and applications already and we regularly launch new standard plug-ins.
We would be delighted to discuss your requirements in more detail so contact us now below or directly on 01332 587515 or firstname.lastname@example.org to tell us more about your project.
API for Sage 200 FAQ's
Does Sage 200 have an API?
Yes, Sage 200 has had its own API since 2018. However, the initial scope of the connections was limited and thus not appropriate for many integration scenarios. Whilst more recent releases have expanded the scope a little, it is still very limited and cannot be expanded to include things such as bespoke fields. There are also no standard connectors available, so bespoke work is always required by either the Sage partner or the third party in question.
This is why Smith Cooper (in line with most of the other key Sage Business Partners) have built our own Sage integration tool.
Does Salesforce integrate with Sage 200 or Sage 50 ?

Magento integrations are probably the most common integration requested by Sage 200 customers. Smith Cooper has vast experience integrating Sage 200 with Magento. Historically this has been utilising Eureka Data Exchange with their Magento connector. However, as more and more clients move away from “file transfer” we have utilised our own API. No Magento integration is exactly the same, as every client’s website is obviously unique to them. However, the core principles are the same and we have the majority of these end points “good to go”.
Does Sage integrate to WooCommerce ?
WooCommerce Sage integration is becoming an increasingly regular request. Smith Cooper has significant experience integrating Sage 200 with WooCommerce. As more and more clients move away from “file transfer” we have utilised our own API but have also implemented bespoke integrations on occasion to fit specific scenarios. No WooCommerce integration is exactly the same, as every client’s website or customer portal is obviously unique to them. However, the core principles are the same and we have the majority of these endpoints “good to go” from previous projects.
