Upgrade from Sage 50 to Sage 200

Home | Sage Services | Upgrade from Sage 50 to Sage 200

We've helped hundreds of companies upgrade from Sage 50 to Sage 200

Sage 50 is a fantastic entry level accounting package and is by far the most installed and operated business software in the UK SME market today. However, company growth and development can put pressure on software, leading to a system that no longer matches your business requirements.

Common changes undertaken by Sage 50 customers include expanding their product range, increasing their employee numbers, placing more emphasis on trading with overseas customers, and increasingly complex business processes.

Changes like these act as triggers, pushing you to reassess your business systems and look at new ways of doing things. If your business is undertaking any of these changes, then it might be a good idea to consider an upgrade from Sage 50 to Sage 200.

The latest version of Sage is a business-wide suite of software that comes in two versions: Sage 200 Professional and Sage 200 Standard. No matter the version you choose, migration from Sage 50 is easy and time-efficient.

Sage 200 Standard is a powerful and easy to use cloud-based solution. It is a popular choice for businesses wanting to manage their accounts online as it means you have access to all of your data at any time and anywhere. Sage 200 Standard is ideal for businesses with small numbers of users who will not require additional enhanced functionality such as Manufacturing or integrated CRM.

On the other hand, Sage 200 Professional is similar to Standard however it is not cloud-based. It offers you vital business control and the information you need to make informed decisions quickly, from core financials, to supply chain to production and even into sales and marketing with Integrated CRM. Sage 200 Standard is easily customisable through a selection of additional modules or through third party add ons.

Migrate Your Sage 50 Data

Upgrading to the latest version of Sage is nothing to fear, we know that data is the number one asset to any business and it is a key consideration within our system upgrade projects.

At PKF Smith Cooper Systems, we have many years of experience in helping Sage 50 customers upgrade to the latest version and are ideally placed to discuss and agree the best way to move your data into your new software.

As you would expect, there is a standard migration utility that will bring all of your data, including historical transactions, seamlessly across from Line 50 to Sage 200. Should you wish to take the opportunity to restructure your chart of accounts or purge any redundant data instead (e.g. Dead accounts, old Stock codes etc), we have a range of standard import file formats we can provide.

Even going down this route, PKF Smith Cooper Systems can assist with the extraction and import of your data during your migration to the latest version of Sage. This will allow you to cleanse your data whilst avoiding the tedious re-keying of static data such as names, addresses, stock codes, BOM’s etc. What’s more, as there is no limit on the number of datasets in Sage 200, we can still migrate Sage Line 50 in full as a second archive company for reference purposes.

Deployment Options

Sage 200 is available to be installed on-premise in the traditional way, or it can be operated in the Cloud.

There is no right or wrong answer as to whether a cloud deployment is the right way to go. This is absolutely subjective to your company’s cloud policy, software requirements and the quality of your internet connection.

PKF Smith Cooper Systems can go through all of the options with you and make a mutual decision as to the best way forward.

Payment Options

Funding an installation like Sage 200 upfront with a traditional capital expenditure purchase was not always an option for some companies.

Now that Sage 200 is sold on a subscription basis, there has never been more options with how to finance your system implementation, regardless of how you choose to deploy the system.

If you would like to get in touch with a member of our team, we will be more than happy to provide more information on each of these options, and we’ll happily help you crunch the numbers.
